The focus of a wealthy soul...

Poverty. A word that if you live in the United States, only really affects a small portion. At least financially. Yet, at the same time if you look around for a minute, it’s clear that poverty of the mind, body, and spirit, is the pandemic that is truly sweeping our nation.

A crisis that in my opinion, calls for much more concern than just financial poverty. Why is it that in a consumeristic, wealthy culture, the masses are plagued by an impoverished soul?

Thats no way to live. Wealth, begins in the heart, before it can exist anywhere else.

Greed, selfishness, and an inability to truly see the life across from you, is the quickest way to find yourself in the hole of mental poverty. Anxiety and depression, though very real, often seem strongly connected to only thinking about ones-self.

I love this line that I picked up somewhere: its in the moments that you feel poor on the inside, that you must begin to pour on the outside.

A thoughtful way of saying, its encouragement given to others that will ultimately lead to you feeling encouraged. It’s giving not getting that satisfies the soul. It’s often an ear, not a mouth, that brings peace.

In 2021, what if your major goal in life, was not focused on what others can do for you, but on what you can do for others. Not in a self-deprecating, “oh was me”, manner, but rather in a way in which your chief objective is to light up a world that you already call home.

A humility, not that your chasing, but that is an outcome of your daily practice. Tom Brady is going to the Super Bowl for the 10th time because of the way he trains. The rest of life is not different. You must practice a life of giving, of encouragement, and of patience. When you do, you’re not necessarily trying to climb out of a poor spirit, yet quite quickly you will notice that is one of the outcomes.
